Ho Hey!

Henry and I have a routine.  I work in the mornings while he spends time with Grandma.  After work/Grandma time, we (do a whole bunch of things to make this pleasant including getting everyone a sip of water, the dog on a leash and that leash handle wrapped around my foot) “rock rock” together.  He sits on my lap while I rock him. (and hope and pray that he takes a nap because as much as I love spending all of my at home time with him, we’re both just happier if he gets some rest.  And this is the nap method that works best for us.)
I thought I was the only one of the two of us that really loved this routine.  I love getting to cuddle with him even though he quite frequently fights me so hard an outsider would think he was fighting for his life (hence my thinking he hated nap time).  After an eternity a couple minutes of this, he settles down.  He’ll be calm and comfy for a few minutes then he decides he doesn’t need a nap and would rather play.  He is getting to that age where naps are kind of optional but still very much needed, so I do take how he is doing into consideration.  The rule is 20 minutes.  If he can sit still and quite for 20 minutes, he can play.  After 20 minutes he’s either rested and happy enough to keep going, or asleep.
ANYWAYS!  That’s our routine.
One day, our nap routine got a little mixed up.  He was so sleepy, he fell asleep at Grandmas.  I was cool with this because I had stuff to do in “the City” (aka Provo) and didn’t especially want to disturb his nap time or keep him up and push him past that point of no return.
That night we were getting ready for bed, doing our usual thing, and Henry came up and said "Ho Hey!"  (Henry for hold me.)  "Can you rock rock me?  We missed it today."    He needed his "rock rock" time.  Funny!  I guess he does like our little nap time routine.
